How To : Laundry Your Lingerie in 6 Easy Steps

CARING FOR ONE'S DELICATES IS, WELL, A DELICATE MATTER. HOW YOU CLEAN AND STORE YOUR BASIC AND SPECIAL OCCASION UNDERWEAR CAN HAVE A HUGE IMPACT ON HOW LONG THEY LAST. IN THIS GUIDE, WE’LL WALK YOU THROUGH HOW TO WASH YOUR LINGERIE TO KEEP IT LOOKING BRAND NEW.
STEP 1 : SORT

Sort bras and intimates according to their construction and material. While non-wire, cotton, and athletic intimates can be machine washed, intricate lace, padded push-ups, and supportive underwire or structure should always be hand washed. Wash with like colors only.

STEP 2 : TREAT STAINS

Remove stains from lotion, self-tanner, and skincare items including body oils and makeup. Wet the bar and apply the lather carefully to underwire, bands, and straps that are vulnerable to stains. When cleaning up blood stains, always use cold water.

STEP 3 : HAND WASH

The best and safest way to wash silk, bras, and delicate lace is by hand. Put your underwear in a bowl or a clean sink with warm or lukewarm water and liquid laundry detergent, and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. Rinse the item well in cool water until the water is no longer soapy. Do not wring. Instead, push the item to remove the water.

STEP 4 : OR MACHINE WASH

Checking the care label on a bra before washing it in the washing machine can tell you if it can take a machine wash. Additionally, it will inform you of the ideal cycle or temperature. In order to avoid them from getting stuck on anything, fasten any hooks and clasps first.

STEP 5 : AIR DRY

The drying process is simple; after removing any excess water, place your undies on a dry towel, a drying rack, or outside on a laundry line to dry. Any of those will be effective. To keep its shape and suppleness, do not tumble dry your undergarments; instead, let them air dry.

STEP 6 : THE PERFECT FIT

Before storing, make sure that the undies are totally dry to avoid mildew issues. In order to avoid snags, it should ideally be kept in fabric bags or lined drawers. Bra closures should be hooked to avoid accidental snagging. The cups of bras should not be broken, and they should be stored flat in a drawer or container. Pants and shapewear can be folded up loosely or stored flat in a drawer.
